Lady Gaga e Ariana Grande lideram a lista com o maior número de indicações

Durante a tarde dessa quinta (30), a MTV divulgou a lista completa dos artistas indicados ao VMA (Video Music Awards) de 2020. A cerimônia é uma das maiores premiações musicais dos Estados Unidos, e foi criada em 1984 pela MTV para premiar os melhores videoclipes de cada ano, sendo também palco para grandes performances de artistas como Britney Spears, Madonna, Beyoncé, Michael Jackson, entre tantos outros.

As cantoras Lady Gaga e Ariana Grande lideram a lista de indicações, contendo nove cada uma. Logo em seguida, Billie Eilish e The Weeknd receberam seis indicações cada, e os quatro artistas concorrem na principal categoria da noite: Vídeo do Ano.

Além disso, em decorrência da pandemia da COVID-19, a premiação criou duas novas categorias, sendo elas Melhor Vídeo feito em Casa e Melhor Performance em Quarentena, para reconhecer e premiar artistas que, de forma criativa, se adaptaram às condições de isolamento social.
